The purpose of the "Special Service
Shield" is to reward Cadets for their voluntary service. The minimum
requirement for the award is 200 service hours with a valid efficiency of that
particular year. Cadets have to submit the application for the award by
themselves after fulfilling the requirements. To balance the development of the
members, only a maximum of 250 hours will be counted annually. Members who have
provided 1,000 hours of service will be awarded a badge of "Special
Service Shield" with a gold ring, which is a lifelong badge that can be
worn on St. John uniform.
Three levels of Special Service Shield are as follows:
Special Service Shield (Blue Ring - 200 Hours)
Special Service Shield (Silver Ring - 500 Hours)
Special Service Shield (Gold Ring - 1000 Hours)
